It was stressed that the aim of the bill (Reg. No. 1087) is to increase social protection for combatants and disabled persons of group II and III of the period of war with Japan in 1945, and who turned 85 and more by granting them special privileges stipulated by the Law "On the Status of War Veterans and Guarantees of Their Social Protection" for war veterans of I group.
The Committee noted that starting from January 1, 2013 and due to adoption of the Law "On amendments to the Law of Ukraine “On the Status of War Veterans and Guarantees of Their Social Protection" the right to the respective privileges was granted to the combatants and disabled persons of group II and III of the period of the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945.
